I'm not too sure what the story for Dragon Lair is in terms of real life. Obviously this is a typical 'knight kill bad buy' story but I do know that this game has somehow or rather spawned a number of sequels such as Dragon's Lair 3D.
Gameplay: 0.5/10 The game itself is fairly normal for any action game. You control a knight with the ability to throw axes, swing a sword, jump and climb ropes for example. Simple right? Unfortunately this knight seems to be unable to move properly because he keeps sliding around and his jumping is really lame. He can't grab ledges and his large size makes him an easy target. He's also really slow when it comes to wielding his sword and throwing his axes. The enemies however, are unrelenting and will simply pop out of the ground literally. This makes him a terrible character even though in a slower moving game he might actually be a decent action hero. Outside of the usual platform area you basically move your character to the next location. That's it.
Graphics: 4/5 The graphics are fairly well-drawn and cartoonish. There are no complaints here.
Sound and Music: 2.5/5 Unfortunately I cannot give a review of all the sound and music in the game. I've only heard the music at the beginning and the first level. From what I hear it seems to be quite okay. Unfortunately the sound is mediocre at best. All the basic sounds are there but nothing even remotely exciting to listen to.
Game design: 0/5 Unfortunately the game is extremely unforgiving. The enemies will appear out of nowhere forcing you to move slowly but because of the forced running, sliding and size of the character you'll end up running into enemies and taking damage. Not good at all. The platforms are often set too far too making jumping a real hassle.
Longevity: 0/5 You'll try to play it because it looks like an average game but find out that it's completely unplayable after crashing into enemies which pop up from the ground.
For: Okay graphics and music Against: Everything else
